Smoothies

Here is something we have almost everyday!

#1 SMOOTHIES!!!!

These are SO easy and can be served right away OR put in the freezer and eaten later for a ice cream like treat!

Ingredients:
Dump in a blender...
1 can of coconut milk (Thai brand you can get anywhere, or Whole foods 365 line are good) (FULL fat, remember GOOD FAT is GOOD!) More to come on this topic!
2 cups of Trader Joe's frozen pineapple pieces
2 cups of Blueberries or Strawberries or both
1 scoop of Trader Joe's Organic Stevia (we don't use any sugar or artificial sweetener in this house at ALL!)

To be honest, I do not measure, you cant go wrong! I barely measure ANYTHING anymore! :)

If you don't have these ingredients, TRY to just pick them up! I promise you will like this!

For added health benefits, squirt in flax oil, a raw egg YOLK (yes I said YOLK, that is the healthier part of the egg...did you  know that??) and raw spinach (you CANT taste the spinach!)

Also, if you don't like blueberries, add strawberries etc.. whatever fruit you like.
Here are some that work great: Mango and pineapple make smoothies sweet. Banana gives it a even more creamy texture. The berries add flavor.  I think Trader Joe's is the best, cheapest place to get frozen fruit. I use frozen fruit because it tastes better... more like a shake!  Feel free to use fresh too!

Remember, this is REAL food, and so therefore you will be satisfied, full, and not "crave" more food because your body will USE all this food and it will register in your brain!  Its really THAT simple! Now if you eat this and binge later on a bunch of chemicals and bad-for-you-carbs, this wont work. Try one day JUST eating REAL food. It will change your life!

TACO BELL--REAL food?? NOT!!!!!!

This is PRECISELY one reason WHY I am blogging!  To help people become aware and take control of their health!  To present the FACTS about our current so called "food supply".  Knowledge is power! Period. (Oooo that felt GOOD to say!)
I would like to think that if I knew what I know now about food, I would have made changes a LONG time ago, especially before getting pregnant (more on this at a later date). Luckily, I am on the right path in my 30's and HOPE you find your own path to prevent disease and get truly healthy! 
Disease such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, and caner etc... have become our NORM in our society and accepted! It is NOT normal to have cancer for Pete's sake! I found it fascinating reading Dr Weston Prices research about HEALTHY tribal communities  that live disease free and have perfect teeth. See link on blog for more information.
The Taco Bell story is just one example of many many bits of information out there about the TRUTH in regard to food. MOST people can say they have eaten at Taco Bell, right?? BUT did you know what you were eating? It is NOT food. So, please, say it with me, Taco Bell is NOT food. Those preservatives and additives cause disease and havoc on our bodies. Okay, homework time, LOL! Google those ingredients listed in the article, you will be FLOORED at what you learn :)

SOOoo... Are You With ME???

WOW! What an incredible experience!!! :) I will KEEP on posting!

It is VERY important to me to thank those people in my life who have guided me down this --not the norm -- path.  Edie, Karen, Laura, Megan, Jen, Barb, Patti and well I am sure more! Mostly, Calei, who has taught me to ALWAYS think outside the box and to remember we are ALL different. What works for one person might not work for another.

Here we go!

Its finally here! A place where I can purge all I have learned about REAL Nutrition! Yippy! Ya Hoo! Kowabunga!

Some of you may be seeking information, some are already on this amazing health journey and some say, "NO WAY"! Regardless of the reason you logged on to Real Nutrition, I am grateful you are here!

I will post "my story" in the days to come and how I got to the point I am at on my "health" journey, but for now, I am going to begin small. Very small. One tip at a time. Take what you like, leave the rest. Do ONLY what feels right to you in this moment.  There are things I learned 2 years ago that I am just NOW implementing in my diet. This is a slow, long term process. Not a quick fix to all your problems :) Small changes over time lead to BIG changes long term, and long term health.  The biggest thing is, just start, start now!

So, where the HECK to begin???

Tip #1
Begin swapping out your snacks for fruit. Easy right? So no processed crap, just real fruit. Organic is by far the best for a zillion reasons that I will address later. Even better, pair your fruit with some sort of fat or protein, always. For example, an apple with a small handful of nuts.  This is ideal!
BTW kids LOVE fruit and actually PREFER fruit! So please no excuses. Put down the packaged crap from the store and hit the REAL fruit aisle! EASY! Just try it!

Tip#2
Buy something NEW at the grocery store! If you always eat walnuts, buy pecans etc.. If you always buy strawberries, buy pineapple. DO NOT get in a rut of eating the same thing over and over. There are SO many "real foods' out there with major health benefits and that taste AMAZING!  Early on I bought almond butter (Trader Joes) vs. peanut butter. HUGE hit here! Nice change. Sunflower butter, cashew butter too, YUM!
