Here we go!

Its finally here! A place where I can purge all I have learned about REAL Nutrition! Yippy! Ya Hoo! Kowabunga!

Some of you may be seeking information, some are already on this amazing health journey and some say, "NO WAY"! Regardless of the reason you logged on to Real Nutrition, I am grateful you are here!

I will post "my story" in the days to come and how I got to the point I am at on my "health" journey, but for now, I am going to begin small. Very small. One tip at a time. Take what you like, leave the rest. Do ONLY what feels right to you in this moment.  There are things I learned 2 years ago that I am just NOW implementing in my diet. This is a slow, long term process. Not a quick fix to all your problems :) Small changes over time lead to BIG changes long term, and long term health.  The biggest thing is, just start, start now!

So, where the HECK to begin???

Tip #1
Begin swapping out your snacks for fruit. Easy right? So no processed crap, just real fruit. Organic is by far the best for a zillion reasons that I will address later. Even better, pair your fruit with some sort of fat or protein, always. For example, an apple with a small handful of nuts.  This is ideal!
BTW kids LOVE fruit and actually PREFER fruit! So please no excuses. Put down the packaged crap from the store and hit the REAL fruit aisle! EASY! Just try it!

Tip#2
Buy something NEW at the grocery store! If you always eat walnuts, buy pecans etc.. If you always buy strawberries, buy pineapple. DO NOT get in a rut of eating the same thing over and over. There are SO many "real foods' out there with major health benefits and that taste AMAZING!  Early on I bought almond butter (Trader Joes) vs. peanut butter. HUGE hit here! Nice change. Sunflower butter, cashew butter too, YUM!

I want to hear from you! Please post if you can. Share with the group what you did this week to improve your health.

Okay now, go on, YOU CAN DO IT! You CAN make small changes, one step @ at time, for long term health!

#3 Technology is NOT my thing either, hang in there, this will be a process for me, but I CAN DO IT! :)

Nice. I think I will be checking out your tips and ideas. I have my own "club" on facebook - - - FBDC - - - friend based diet club. I LOVE getting new ideas for living a healthy lifestyle (that IS what its all about, truly). What can I share to start small. Journaling - - - writing down everything you eat, especially initially, for awareness. People put things in their mouth they don't even realize. Water - - - at least 6 8 oz glasses a day (I personally drink decaf home brewed green tea w/lemon - - - EVERY day). Daily exercise. You must move EVERY day - - - if you don't use it, you WILL lose it. At least 5 servings of fruits/vegetables a day which is actually easy to do. Good for you starting the blog!!! Keep it up!!!

Hi there!
And THANK YOU for signing up! :)
Yes, new ideas about healthy lifestyles! SO FUN!

Journaling: YES! I did that for a year. I really wanted to become aware of WHAT I was eating. Looking back on that log I cringe! But it was necessary to do bec. it gives you a CLEAR idea where you need to make changes and holds you accountable for your health!

Water, really is all we need. I was a diet coke junky. Confession: That was the LAST "bad food" I eliminated from my diet. I was seriously addicted to the chemicals, the fiz, etc.. in pop! BUT I did it. I just did that piece last. This is where knowing yourself comes in. DO NOT tackle what is the hardest for you first. Baby steps!

Another Confession: Exercise is a necessity. Our bodies were designed to MOVE, NOT be sedentary! Once I got the food under control THEN I added in movement. I call it movement bec. that is all we need. We need to MOVE! Start small. Baby steps. Do something EVERYDAY! Before you know it, your body will CRAVE movement, its amazing! I will do a separate post of movement. Lots to say here!

THANKS AGAIN for posting! :)
I am working on getting this blog on facebook!

Yes, Tip #1 is so right on! Kids love fruit, and there are so many fruits to try with kids that they will like, pineapple, canteloupe, watermelon, pears, apples, berries, mangos, ect. And frozen fruit is a great snack in the summer too, just make sure to check the ingredients to ensure there is nothing added. So easy and important to swap the processed fruit snacks for REAL fruit! Love it!

Oh, I love the Sunflower butter from Trader Joe's! I just recently bought that for the first time. Tastes great and I love how it doesn't get hard like some peanut butter cause you have to put in the fridge!
