What's in YOUR Cereal?

Or should I say, "What's NOT in your cereal!"

As a cereal JUNKY I was bummed to learn that even my “healthy” cereal was just down right awful for me!  At one point in my life, I was the gal who had at LEAST 6-8 boxes of "healthy cereal" all lined up in my pantry along with "sweet cereal" for my "sweet tooth".  With the diet changes we have made I no longer have a "sweet tooth".  A huge sign we are on the right path and I will live diabetes FREE! I know this is a BIGGY to eliminate, but a MUST!

I recently posted on facebook about cereal not containing REAL fruit. That was just disgusting!  
I was tempting to write this article in my own words but felt it was better left in its original form! I would LOVE to hear comments on this one! :)

Packaged Cereals

Dry breakfast cereals are produced by a process called extrusion. Cereal makers first create a slurry of the grains and then put them in a machine called an extruder. The grains are forced out of a little hole at high temperature and pressure. Depending on the shape of the hole, the grains are made into little o's, flakes, animal shapes, or shreds (as in Shredded Wheat or Triscuits), or they are puffed (as in puffed rice). A blade slices off each little flake or shape, which is then carried past a nozzle and sprayed with a coating of oil and sugar to seal off the cereal from the ravages of milk and to give it crunch.
In his book Fighting the Food Giants, Paul Stitt has tells us that the extrusion process used for these cereals destroys most of the nutrients in the grains. It destroys the fatty acids; it even destroys the chemical vitamins that are added at the end. The amino acids are rendered very toxic by this process. The amino acid lysine, a crucial nutrient, is especially denatured by extrusion. This is how all the boxed cereals are made, even the ones sold in the health food stores. They are all made in the same way and mostly in the same factories. All dry cereals that come in boxes are extruded cereals.
The only advances made in the extrusion process are those that will cut cost regardless of how these will alter the nutrient content of the product. Cereals are a multi-billion dollar business, one that has created huge fortunes.
With so many people eating breakfast cereals, you might expect to find some studies on the effect of extruded cereals on animals or humans. Yet, there are no published studies at all in the scientific literature.

The Rat Experiments

Let me tell you about two studies which were not published. The first was described by Paul Stitt who wrote about an experiment conducted by a cereal company in which four sets of rats were given special diets. One group received plain whole wheat, water and synthetic vitamins and minerals. A second group received puffed wheat (an extruded cereal), water and the same nutrient solution. A third set was given only water. A fourth set was given nothing but water and chemical nutrients. The rats that received the whole wheat lived over a year on this diet. The rats that got nothing but water and vitamins lived about two months. The animals on water alone lived about a month. But the company's own laboratory study showed that the rats given the vitamins, water and all the puffed wheat they wanted died within two weeks---they died before the rats that got no food at all. It wasn't a matter of the rats dying of malnutrition. Autopsy revealed dysfunction of the pancreas, liver and kidneys and degeneration of the nerves of the spine, all signs of insulin shock.
Results like these suggested that there was something actually very toxic in the puffed wheat itself! Proteins are very similar to certain toxins in molecular structure, and the pressure of the puffing process may produce chemical changes, which turn a nutritious grain into a poisonous substance.
Another unpublished experiment was carried out in the 1960s. Researchers at University of Michigan were given 18 laboratory rats. They were divided into three groups: one group received corn flakes and water; a second group was given the cardboard box that the corn flakes came in and water; the control group received rat chow and water. The rats in the control group remained in good health throughout the experiment. The rats eating the box became lethargic and eventually died of malnutrition. But the rats receiving the corn flakes and water died before the rats that were eating the box! (The last corn flake rat died the day the first box rat died.) But before death, the corn flake rats developed schizophrenic behavior, threw fits, bit each other and finally went into convulsions. The startling conclusion of this study is that there was more nourishment in the box than there was in the corn flakes.
This experiment was actually designed as a joke, but the results were far from funny. The results were never published and similar studies have not been conducted.
Most of America eats this kind of cereal. In fact, the USDA is gloating over the fact that children today get the vast majority of their important nutrients from the nutrients added to these boxed cereals.
Cereals sold in the health food stores are made by the same method. It may come as a shock to you, but these whole grain extruded cereals are probably more dangerous than those sold in the supermarket, because they are higher in protein and it is the proteins in these cereals that are so denatured by this type of processing.
There are no published studies on the effects of these extruded grains on animals or humans, but I did find one study in a literature search that described the microscopic effects of extrusion on the proteins. "Zeins," which comprise the majority of proteins in corn, are located in spherical organelles called protein bodies. During extrusion, these protein bodies are completely disrupted and deformed. The extrusion process breaks down the organelles, disperses the proteins and the proteins become toxic. When they are disrupted in this way, you have absolute chaos in your food, and it can result in a disruption of the nervous system.

There are MANY many many articles JUST like this one. Please read further to learn as much as you can about this and eliminate it from your diet!

Mornings now consist of Healthy Bacon, Eggs, Fruit with Raw, Soaked nuts, almond flour or coconut flour waffles/pancakes, etc...

Family Farm Expo PART 2

Whoo Weee this is a LOT!  I apologize! I never want this blog to be wordy! :)

I just typed out my notes... not a very good flow BUT wanted to at least get the info out there! Again, if you want more information, please visit Weston A Price's website (see link on right hand side)

Weston A. Price studied primitive tribes and their among these healthy people. In Family Farm Expo Part 1, I summarized the commonalities among these people all over the world.
Here I will type out various key points I took from listening to Sally Fallon:
ALL your nutrients should come from food, NOT a pill.
ALWAYS buy chicken with skin on for maximum nutrients! We call the skin “crispies”.

Animal products contain NATURAL vitamin A and D and GOOD Cholesterol. This is crucial for kids growing brain and gut. A and D are “activators” that help body absorb minerals. Like a house, A and D are the mortar and the minerals are the brick.
Animal products also contain B12, EPA and DHA, calcium, B6, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper etc…! The body easily absorbs these nutrients from animal products (versus vegetables).
If you are vegan, please be aware of zinc deficiencies. And if you are a vegan please note that cows are used for many modernized items! The list was endless! Including parts of a telephone!
Raw Dairy products and Bone Broth are the BEST sources of Calcium! There is a reason restaurants serve soup before a meal. The broth helps with digestion and absorption of the nutrients you eat! Bone Broth should be eaten daily before meals!
Lack of B12 causes lots of problems! 95% of mental patients are deficient!
Primitive diets contained 4x’s the calcium and minerals and 10x’s the fat soluble vitamins especially A and D.
Vitamin A myth:
Vegetables like tomatoes contain Vitamin A. NOT TRUE! They contain the precursors to convert to vitamin A.
In order to convert beta carotene to A many things need to happen. Conversion of beta carotene to vitamin A you need lots of enzymes! You need the proper fats (so butter those carrots!), a healthy thyroid, vitamin E etc….
47% of women cannot make the conversion. It is almost impossible for babies and children to make this conversion! It is almost impossible for diabetics, people with poor thyroid or liver etc.. to make this conversion.
Pesticides interfere with vitamin A conversion and absorption.
Vitamin A is also needed for protein and calcium absorption. Fastest way to deplete Vit A is a low fat, high protein diet. Important to NOT eat lean meat or consume protein powder for all the reasons above!
Transfats inhibit enzymes that make the conversion.
It is also depleted by stress, cold weather, exposure to toxins, physical exersion, and fever/illness.
That is why when a child (or adult) has a fever, give them egg yolk, Cod Liver Oil, broth and fat as medicine! J Fevers serve a purpose, to kill off the “bad guys”. It is so very important to let a child’s body work and not run to get Tylenol.
Vitamin D, myth, get it from the sun. The only time this is true here in Chicago is in July and August when the sun is over head.
Vit D is crucial for many reasons. You will have better muscle tone and need to work out less if you have adequate amounts of Vit D in your system. Many people are very deficient in Vit D and do not know it.
Cod Liver Oil is crucial especially in the first year of life! There is a study on diabetes. Kids who had CLO during the first year of life never got diabetes versus the group that did not get it.
Liver is a great source. You can hide it in dishes such as meatloaf. Cooking in lard is also a great source of Vit D. It contains 1,000 IU’s in 1 Tablespoon!
Vitamin K2:
K1 is in plants and we CANT use it.
A cow eats grass and K2 is formed. If you have K2 in your saliva you wont have cavities!! Heart disease is a K2 deficiency.
Note: Vitamin A, D and K ALL work together! Must be in balance!
Sources of K2: fermented soy, egg yolk, butter, raw cheese, fatty meat, sauerkraut, fermented CLO etc… Cow sources are the BEST for A,D, K2
I noticed a common theme in the foods that were most nutrient dense.
Grass fed chicken eggs have 8x’s more Vit D! Yolks should be dark. She showed yolks from store bought eggs vs. yolks from grass fed free range chickens! One was deep yellow and one was PALE yellow!
When you wean your baby the most nutrient dense foods for brain and development are liver, egg yolk!
Vitamins B6 and B12 are abundant in the liver and absorbed by the body!
Raw versus Cooked food:
ALL traditional cultures COOK their food especially plants.
However, B6 is very fragile and bananas have the highest level.
B6 is destroyed by heat. B6 deficiencies are links to SO many issues especially kidney failure and alcoholics.
High levels of enzymes and beneficial bacteria are essential for true health. The foods mentioned are the best sources.
Study on dogs and cooked food. Those who got cooked food their pancreases and salvatory glands were enlarged and their brain and reproductive organs shrank! Enzymes are destroyed by heat.
Enzyme rich food:
Raw Dairy, raw meat, raw fish, raw honey, tropical fruits, cold pressed oils, lacto fermented food.
Healthy bodies lived with micro organisms. There is 6 pounds of beneficial bacteria in the gut. A bio film lining is in the gut and the gut is 85 % your immune system.
Everyday good bacteria feed this bio film lining and keep you healthy. This is why use of antibiotics and chlorine is not good, it KILLS the good bacteria.
Raw Milk
Antimicrobial components and destroys pathogens! Raw milk has almost all the components of blood! (called “White Blood”)
NEVER drink skim milk, you NEED the fat!
Once pasteurized, a ton of the milks health benefits are gone.
MANY outbreaks and recalls of pasteurized milk! MANY! NOT ONE DEATH due to RAW MILK! 1945 and earlier raw milk was normal. 1946 Readers Digest (very popular at the time) made up a story about the safety of Raw Milk. They were NOT true! Since 1999 there have been NO recalls of Raw Milk (yet TONS of food/drink are recalled DAILY)
Pasteurized milk causes allergies, asthma, ear infections, gastrointestinal problems etc…
Proteins in milk are 3D, but once pasteurized they are flattened and body looks at it as a toxin and unknown.
Asthma is BEST treated by using RAW MILK!
82% of people who are lactose intolerant CAN do Raw Milk! 82%!
SOAK, SPROUT or ferment!
High in enzyme inhibitors, mineral blockers, tannins and lectins!
Animals have 2 stomachs, one to let the food ferment/bacteria and another to digest.
Coating on the seeds=preservatives
Denatures Grains!
BILLION dollar industry.
Rats lived one year fed wheat
Rats lived 2 weeks fed excruded wheat (CEREAL!)
Rats fed rat chow--lived one year
Rats fed corn flakes: were irritated, bit each other, died of seizures and had lesions on their nerves
Rats who are the box the cereal came in died of starvation
Proteins are 3D and organized
Excrusion process smashes them and body sees them as toxins
Modern OJ LOADED with pesticides!
Add extra yolk to a scrambled egg
Cook pineapple in bacon fat
Saturated fats are ESSENTIAL for health. Play SO many roles in good health. Lungs cannot function without saturated fats. People with little saturated fat have high rates of heart disease. Weston A Price has a chart that shows how Margarine and Shortening are made. A MUST SEE! I GAGGED! Its AWFUL! If people KNEW this information they would NOT touch it!
Omega 3/6
Need equal amounts!
A bit of flax oil in salad good too!
Salt is needed for SO MANY REASON! That is REAL SALT! Not the white stuff! Salt should be pink or grey.
TONS of calcium
Helps with digestion
Heals digestive track,
Vinegar in broth draws out the calcium (add a splash!)
Skim off scum on top (this is impurities!)
BEEF STOCK reduction
Basis of ALL good sauces.
That “flavor” is imitated by MSG!
Get the MSG LIST! SOOoo many ingredients mean “MSG”

If you are tired, you are NOT digesting!

Family Farm Expo March 11 (my notes Part 1)

This workshop on Saturday at UIC was PHENOMENAL! I encourage ALL of you to visit Weston A. Price's web site (see link on right hand side). 

Here is an outline of the notes I took that day. Part 2 will give you a bit more information.

Since the 1980’s obesity rates DOUBLED!
1 out of 6 kids have some kind of disease or behavioral disorder! BTW this is NOT normal!

Primitive HEALTHY Cultures all had in common:
  1. Natural Diet, especially focusing on pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, and children (specific foods given at those times) No refined or denatured foods.
  2. Perfect Teeth
  3. NO Tuberculosis, heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, or diseases of their time etc...
  4. Diet contained animal products.  Fish, Raw Dairy, Chicken, etc...
  5. Fermented Foods
  6. Cod Liver Oil
  7. Spaced out their children (pregnant no more then once every 3 years, to give the mother time to re-cooperate nutritionally and spend quality time with their young)
  8. Most cooked their plants
  9. Due to their diet, they had high levels of enzymes and beneficial bacteria.
  10. They ate soaked, sprouted, fermented seeds, grains, nuts and legumes.
  11. They are a LOT of good fat.
  12. They consumed a lot of Omega 6 and 3’s in BALANCE!
  13. They used REAL salt.
  14. They consumed bone broth.
  15. Principals of diet were taught to the very young.
  16. Easy pregnancies and deliveries, healthy babies.

Once these primitive cultures began eating a more modern diet (starting with vegetable oils), for the first time, first and second generations showed signs of:
  1. Disease including TB, and the various modern day diseases and disorders.
  2. Tooth decay followed by crooked teeth and narrow faces
  3. Hard pregnancies, hard child birth, and unhealthy babies.

These people clearly were getting sicker and sicker with each generation.  This type of research is what fuels me to get the word out for the sake of future generations! 

All of this research is documented on the Weston A. Price’s web site. I encourage you to read Dr. Price’s research. It is absolutely EYE opening!  The pictures he has of healthy people vs. unhealthy people say a million words!

I will be typing out my notes on the “why’s” and “details” of the above information as I feel that is the most important information! I will post that shortly!

SOY FORMULA! (Soy, Part 2!)

WOW! I got a TON of comments and questions about SOY formula! I am not surprised as "soy" is thought of as a health food in the U.S. but it is far from such!

After posting on soy I went to the store to see if they have improved SOY FORMULA since the last time I checked.

The answer, well, NO! And seeing the label in person made my stomach flip!

PLEASE visit for more information!  This article is VERY "to the point", so brace yourself :) But he is presenting the truth. MANY parents do not read the labels on baby formula! I was one of them! I just "listened to my doctor".  But at the same time wondering WHY Calei would PUKE after EVERY feeding.  I didn't know what I know now. 

Here is what I found on this topic:

“Similac Go and Grow soy-based formula, with a cute teddy bear on the front label and positioned towards “9 to 24 months.” It comes with the claim “balanced nutrition for older babies.” But is it really balanced nutrition?
Here is the label:
42.6% corn syrup solids
The very first ingredient, shown right on the label, is 42.6% CORN SYRUP SOLIDS.
Stop right there. Are they saying that Similac infant formula is 42.6% corn syrup solids? That’s a form of highly processed sugar. Is this really what infants need — nearly half their formula to be made of corn syrup sugars? Nutritionists would strongly disagree.
But it gets even WORSE: The next ingredient is 14.7% SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE. Most soy protein, as NaturalNews readers already know, is derived from a hexane chemical extraction process that we’ve covered in previous articles:
Beyond the hexane question, did you know that 91% of the soy fields grown in America contain genetically modified soy? The Similac can does not say “non-GMO soy” because it’s not required to be put on the label (thanks to the FDA shell game). But Consumer Reports actually bought and tested infant formula for genetically engineered DNA and found that Similac was using GMO soy in their products. (
The next ingredient in the Similac can I bought is 11.5% HIGH OLEIC SAFFLOWER OIL, followed by 10.1% SUGAR (SUCROSE).
If you’re doing the math on this, that makes Similac 52.7% sugar (corn syrup solids plus the sucrose) with soy protein. I can hardly think of a better way to raise diabetic, obese children than to feed them a diet that’s over 50 percent sugar. It also seems like a great way to get infants addicted to sugar — a curse that will haunt them through the rest of their lives.
Next on the list is 8.4% SOY OIL (most likely from GMO soybeans, too) and then 7.8% COCONUT OIL (which is, in my opinion, the only healthy ingredient in the entire product).
Basically, then, this Similac product is sugared-up soy protein with safflower and soy oil.
Plus it has some chemical “vitamins” on the label such as CYANOCOBALAMIN, the cheapest form of vitamin B-12 available to food manufacturers. It actually binds the vitamin to a cyanide molecule, just in case you were wondering.
As wikipedia explains, “B12 refers to a group of cobalt-containing vitamer compounds known as cobalamins: these include cyanocobalamin (an artifact formed as a result of the use of cyanide in the purification procedures).”
It then adds, “the cyanocobalamin form of B12 does not occur in nature normally, but is a byproduct of the fact that other forms of B12 are avid binders of cyanide (-CN) which they pick up in the process of activated charcoal purification of the vitamin after it is made by bacteria in the commercial process. Since the cyanocobalamin form of B12 is easy to crystallize and is not sensitive to air-oxidation, it is typically used as a form of B12 for food additives and in many common multivitamins.” (
Why Similac should have been recalled long before the beetle incident
With this in mind, what we really have with Similac infant formula is powered sugars, genetically modified soy protein, more sugar, safflower and soy oils, a bit of coconut oil and some vitamin chemicals made with cyanide molecules. They also throw in some DHA to make moms think it must somehow resemble breast milk fats.
Are you beginning to see why the beetles are the least of the problems with this product?
Keep in mind that moms are feeding this stuff to their babies every single day! They think it’s good for their babies because they don’t take the time to read ingredient labels (or they are unable to understand what the labels mean). But make no mistake: I can’t think of a single informed nutritionist who would recommend feeding babies a powder that’s more than 50% sugar combined with genetically modified soy protein. To do so is actually nutritional child abuse in my view.
That’s why I say Similac should be recalled just based on what’s on the label! In my opinion, this is a dangerous combination of sugars and genetically modified ingredients that are likely to promote diabetes, obesity and nutritional imbalances in babies. To feed this to babies is to nutritionally cause them harm, in my opinion… and to think that Abbott Laboratories is making money selling this sugared-up GMO soy protein to consumers just makes me sick.
I think their slogan should be something like, “Similac – Creating tomorrow’s diabetics, one baby at a time.”

Please share this story and send it to moms, dads and anyone who has an infant. Don’t let them feed their babies sugars and GMO soy protein!

We need to reach all the parents who are buying Similac and unknowingly feeding their babies corn syrup solids, GMO soy protein, soy oil, sucrose and other ingredients that I consider to be “pure junk.” No society should allow this junk to be fed to their babies, especially if they’re trying to prevent obesity, diabetes, heart disease and other chronic health problems that are already bankrupting the nation.
In my opinion, Similac might be the perfect product to raise a generation of Big Pharma customers who will need a whole battery of prescription drugs to “treat” all the degenerative health conditions caused by eating dead, processed, sugared-up and genetically modified foods. To imagine that this could somehow be a replacement for the rich, complex nutritional abundance of mother’s milk is nutritionally insane.
Ridiculously overpriced
With Similac, there’s also the price issue. Considering how cheap these ingredients are, this product seems ridiculously overpriced. If you really wanted to feed your baby something almost identical to this, you could just buy your own table sugar (cheaper than dirt), isolated soy protein (also cheaper than dirt), safflower oil (almost cheaper than dirt) and some coconut oil or flax oil (not so cheap, but you don’t need to use much) then mix it all up and add water.
But what mom in her right mind would do such a crazy thing? No mom in her right mind would mix up 50% table sugar in a bottle and feed it to her baby, but that’s essentially what she’s doing when feeding her baby this variety of Similac that I purchased.
There should seriously be a law against infant formula being made with corn syrup solids and sucrose, not to mention GMO ingredients.
Spread the word, folks. That’s the only way people will find out the truth about this and start choosing something that’s healthier for their babies. If we hope to have healthy adults in the future, we have to stop nutritionally abusing them when they’re infants.

This is just a post on SOY FORMULA! However, this goes for all formula. Weston A. Price (and other sites) have options if you cannot breast feed.

AVOID ALL SOY! Yes that is what I said :)

Okay, well, except whole bean or fermented soy! But most people do not consume THAT kind of soy!

Get this...
In 1913 SOY was listed in the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) handbook as an INDUSTRIAL BY PRODUCT, NOT a food!
Because SOY in processed food is made like this:
The fiber is removed with an alkaline solution.  The soybeans are put into a large aluminum tank to be acid washed.  The acid makes the soybeans absorb the aluminum.  If you have not read up on the dangers of aluminum, please do!  Aluminum is linked to dementia and other mental disorders.  The beans are then treated with chemicals including nitrates which are linked to cancer.  Soy MILK and Soy FORMULA both go through this process! Come on say it with me... eeewwww YUCK!

Quickly, a word on SOY FORMULA (as if the info above isn't enough!):
1. Impedes sexual maturation of boys
2. Accelerates sexual maturation of girls
3. Hormonal effects can be irreversible
4. The average daily does of soy estrogens in formula is higher then the amounts that cause thyroid and endocrine problems in ADULTS!
5. 2,000 times higher estrogen content then in breast milk
6. Increases behavioral problems

Soy milk is just as bad! Soy milk goes through more processing including deodorizing the soy beans using a process similar to refining OIL!

Soy is a natural goitrogen.  This means it impairs iron absorption and reduces thyroid function. 
Soybeans are high in phytates.  Phytates bind to minerals and doesn't allow them to be absorbed, particularly calcium, magnesium, iron, and zinc. 

EXCELLENT RESOURCE:  "The Whole Soy Story" by Dr. Kaayla Daniel.  Here is a quote from the book:  "Thousands of studies link soy to malnutrition, digestive distress, immune system break down, thyroid dysfunction, kidney stones, cognitive decline, reproductive disorders, heart disease, cancer and infertility."  That is a grocery list of illnesses!

Also, Soy is in EVERYTHING and is disguised as ingredients such as: soy protein isolate, soybean oil, soy protein concentrate, texturized vegetable protein, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, natural flavor, bouillon, etc... 2/3 of processed foods some type of soy product! When I started reading labels I could not BELIEVE what soy was in! Even chocolate!

Here is the deal... Soy is a BILLION dollar industry at the expense of YOUR health. Become a natural LABEL READER and AVOID anything that contains soy! Your body will thank you for it!

This is another question I get ALL the time!

WHY Wheat and Dairy Issues?

A little history...
Wheat and Dairy are the two foods added to man’s diet when we changed from a hunter-gatherer life style to one of cultivation and domestication.

The proteins of Grain (Wheat is one example of a grain. Others: corn, oat, rye and barley) (Gluten is the protein) and milk (casein is the protein) are two of the HARDEST proteins for humans to digest! HARDEST! Most people have problems with these foods and just don’t know it. The cause a whole bunch of symptoms! 

Grains and dairy are found in SO many processed food items! They are consumed in abundance. Too much of these food items DAILY are NOT good!

They cause SO many health problems: sneezing, itching, arthritis, nervous disorders, concentration problems, insomnia, headaches, chronic fatigue, cancer, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, schizophrenia, etc... 90% of money spent on food in America is PROCESSED!  Processed food is only about 100 years old. This is the primary reason WHY we are having an epidemic of chronic diseases!

When you "process" food, the original nutrients are LOST! Therefore, making that food exceptionally unhealthy! Wheat for instance, is loaded with chemicals and pesticides to keep the insects away. There are chemical substances used in wheat to prevent it from absorbing moisture, color and flavor improvers, softeners, and even bleach in some cases!

Once swallowed, the piece of white bread turns into a glue-like mass, which feeds parasites and pathogenic bacteria and fungi in the gut, contributing to toxic overload. And we wonder WHY we have SO MANY health problems!

Traditional cultures usually SOAK or SPROUT their grains or CULTURE their dairy before eating them to help with digestion.

Problem with milk stems from the body’s inability to produce the enzyme lactase which is required to break down a portion of the lactose (milk sugar)!
