FAKE FOOD: More on Mc Donalds

Leave it to Natural News to disclose this latest on the ingredients in Mc D's chicken nuggets! I am sure you won't be surprised but you may be disgusted!  This post got a huge response on facebook so I thought I would include it here:

Here is a quote from facebook from another REAL FOOD mama commenting on this post:

"Dimethylpolysioxene (the anti foaming agent) is a known carcinogen and it’s also flammable. Tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) is derived from petroleum and is a form of butane….yes, lighter fluid!"

" After learning this stuff you want to stand on top of a roof top and shout it out for all to hear. Lol The truth is that many people don't care what's in their food...... Until it affects themselves or loved ones like it has affected ours. Please everyone, read the labels. Look up the ingredients you don't recognize. The best teacher is yourself. If you don't take responsibility for the health of yourself and your kids, who else will?"

I you believe, "we ate Mc'D's and we are fine" you may want to visit their web site and look at the ingredients for yourself! It is my belief  the chemicals they are putting in the "food" will make you sick! 

Not to mention Mc D's smoothies! Do NOT be fooled!

Wild Berry Fruit BlendStrawberry puree, water, sugar, blackberry puree, blueberry puree, concentrated pineapple juice, concentrated apple juice, contains less than 1% of the following: cellulose powder, xanthan gum, colored with fruit and vegetable juice, natural (botanical source) and artificial flavors, pectin, citric acid.

These are the ingredients on Mc D's web site.

Gosh! Now WHY did they have to go and put ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS in a smoothie!?!? I mean really?! Smoothies are one of the easiest things to make! Fresh, easy! Leave it to McD's to mess it up!

Breaking News: FOOD ALLERGIES on the RISE! HELLO!!?? That is what I have been saying forever!

SO glad this is FINALLY leaking out, slowly, by mainstream medical.

Food allergies on the rise and they don't know why??
I will tell you why!! LOL!!  Read my blog and many others out there talking about it all!

Anyway, this is the SAME doc that LAUGHED at me almost 4 years ago when I told her I thought Calei was allergic to corn syrup and food dye. I left Children's Memorial with NO food allergy diagnosis (boy did she miss that one!) and FIVE prescriptions for Calei--she was only 2!!! ALL of which went into the TRASH on my way out of her office. That is when my journey to real health truly began.

Ironically, this doc now has a young child with a food allergy! I can only assume that motivated her to finally do some research.  I am SURE her opinions have changed due to experiencing it for herself with her own child! (vs. taking it from me, who she said was "just" a first time mom and that I was over reacting!)

1:13 kids have food allergies (I think that number is low)

She lists reasons(theories):

1. We are too clean--yeah okay sure-- 100%
2. PROCESSED FOOD! Hip Hip Hooray!!! Did she REALLY SAY THAT!??! OMG! Wonder if she will get fired!?!?!
Don't be fooled! This includes all the GF processed junk food out there too!!!!

And she listed MILK!!!! as being a TOP food allergen! FINALLY!!!!!!!!! (as well as soy, wheat, blah blah blah--)  That does NOT include RAW Milk (which is totally different).

Needless to say,  if your child has any funky "symptom" (rash, behaviors, disease, disorders etc...) or if you do, please look into what they/you are eating. You would be amazed to learn these symptoms can be eliminated on the proper diet.

So here it is...a short video segment of the broadcast. Must watch.

When it came to my child's health (and mine) I didn't have time for mainstream medicine to catch up. GOOD to see they are FINALLY, slowly, taking my talk!  Knowledge is KEY!

Organic Fruits and Veggies? YES!

I love the summer months because now is the time for fresh fruits and veggies!  I am asked all the time if you should buy organic or non organic produce.
Sometimes, yes, buy organic, but see below for the details!  You might be surprised!

So, why organic? 

#1. NO pesticides
#2. NOT genetically modified
#3. Healthier (more nutrition)
#4. Better for the environment

What's the big deal about pesticides?

Pesticides were originally designed as nerve gasses for chemical warfare. They were designed to kill living things!  When it was discovered that they worked so well in killing people they decided to use them in smaller doses to kill weeds, insects etc.
They are a powerful neurotoxin, carcinogen and endocrine disruptor.
Pesticides HARM our body. The list is too long to list here!  Please avoid them!


"GMOs, also known as genetically modified organisms, are created by injecting the DNA from one species into another species, creating genetic combinations that cannot occur in nature or through typical crossbreeding methods. For example, genes from an arctic flounder (which has natural "antifreezing" properties that protect it from the frigid waters) may be injected into tomato DNA to make a new breed that is more resistant to frost damage. It sounds like a sci-fi movie, but it’s reality. And, according to the FDA, over 75 percent of processed food in the United States may contain GMOs. Foods with genetically modified ingredients don’t have to be labeled, though, so you’re probably eating them every day without even knowing it.

Is organic healthier?

This list is ever changing. For instance, just recently I noticed the NON organic Cilantro was tasting, well, like it had a ton of chemicals on it.  EWG published a report on their recent discovery of a TON of pesticides and chemicals on Cilantro! So interesting! :) My tongue knew!

The good thing is, once the chemicals are out of your system, you too will be able to taste them on the fruit or veggie! Its amazing!  I was at a party and I decided to have a blueberry and almost gagged at the taste of chemicals!

Primal Blueprint: Mark Sisson

A book review!

I am constantly asked "What can I read?" Hands down, to date, this is the best book written on getting healthy for life! His writing style is super easy to follow yet backed up by as much science as you want! 
This is not a gimmick diet book. This is a lifestyle book, a lifestyle in which I happen to live (I just didn't have a name for it until now!) I am a Primal girl all the way!

Our overall health around the world is down right poor. If a teacher was grading us on health as a whole, we would get a big fat "F".  50% of children have some kind of disorder or disease! One out of 2! Alarming really!  Not to mention, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer rates climbing to all time highs!

Mark explains how to literally reprogram your "genes" by following 10 "Primal" laws.  These laws are backed up by extensive research and understood by studying two million years of human evolution. (This research is FASCINATING to say the least!)

Mark writes how to permanently lose weight by eating REAL food and never gain a pound again!  He explains a balanced approach to fitness by NOT over exercising. He talks in detail that the key of loosing excess body fat and maintaining weight is controlling your production of insulin.

I loved the information on Grains! Too much info for this blog. MUST read the book! :) In the beginning of this journey, I wasn't even clear what a grain was! Just in case you are like I was here ya go: wheat, bread, pasta, crackers, cereal, rice etc....  Yep the stuff you eat and then get gassy from, or have to unbuckle your pants, or the foods that leave you in a coma like state! Not good!  The SAD (Standard American Diet) is too grain heavy.  Just think about what you eat every day.  We consume way way too many of these for our bodies to handle properly leading the body to be in a compromised state.
Grains make you FAT and SICK, and we do NOT digest the protein structure and excessive carb load in grains.  Grains cause blood glucose levels to spike and interferes with mineral absorption. Grains inhibit fat metabolism  and promote disease.   The list of reasons "why" to avoid grains is endless!

Mark explains how eating Organic Grass Fed meat and eggs and how a high "GOOD" fat diet is essential for human health and a key to weight loss, a healthy immune system and an abundance of energy.  No need for afternoon caffeine laden energy rush drinks on this lifestyle.  NO catching every single cold virus you come in contact with on this lifestyle. And yes, you can get back to the weight you were in high school! (unless that was not an ideal weight :)

At the end of the day, Mark uses the 80/20 rule. Live "Primal" 80% of the time. This allows flexibility. I love that! Even though over here I would say we are more 100% Primal, we are still in a "healing stage" from years of NOT eating Primal.  Once we are over the hill sort of speak I could see us following the 80/20 rule.
